Touring

Yesterday we got in the car, as we must from our rural location, and headed off to discover some other places. 

We stopped in Martina Franca and Taranto to spend some time. 

Martina F. was very nice, with a large Centro Storico for pleasant and interesting walking/observing.

Taranto though, on the coast, was not impressive at all sadly. It's Centro Storico is degrading and unpleasant (very poor living standards). 

They try to promote their churches and old battle structures but they have too much good competition elsewhere in Italy to be attractive.

The difference between Martina F. and Taranto was stark. 

This peace installation looks identical to the one in Venice.

These are the only photos that I kept from Taranto!

And this is a plastic bottle, designed to frustrate, because they don't like the lids being removed. 

Presumably it's a rubbish control feature but Italy has NOT mastered rubbish control!
