Rome Day 2

Today was another with end to end activity, 25,000 steps, including the Vatican museum and a food tour.

The food tour was far and away the better tour!

We thought, naively that a 7:30am tour at the Vatican would mean lighter crowd numbers. WRONG. We felt like sheep in stock yards representing units of value. It was not enjoyable and thus was not good value for money.
We listened to many of the guide's descriptions but they didn't sink in because the experience was unpleasant.
Sheep with ear pieces.
Old pope stuff.
Self nominated contender 🥴

It was a mind spinner just contemplating the amount of money being collected by the Vatican. They have got the cash component of tourism nailed.

In NZ you may recall some people were concerned about introducing a $100 visitors fee. This is a bargain! It will not deter travellers.

Escaping the clutches of the Cardinals to join our food tour was a relief and added a real pleasure to the second half of the day.
Food tours have easily become the best choices we have made for discovering a city, or town, led by a cheerful local.

Tomorrow looks like another 25,000 steps day, so an early night is calling.
