Lecce

Tonight we are in Lecce, will within the heel of the boot that is Italy.

We traveled via Brindisi, which is another coastal town and seems to be the port for many ferries heading East.

Brindisi had a lovely waterfront and an interesting tourist road up the middle that looks like it belongs in Disneyland!

Lecce, like many parts of Italy, tries to celebrate it's older history and uses these areas to draw the tourists in. Having seen so many now they do feel a bit similar to each other.

Brindisi waterfront
Fiat 500 in car show at the waterfront. All cool old cars.
Entering the main gate, of the old walled city of Lecce (Centro storico).
Another church. We have stopped going in now. There are too many.
Lovely old lane ways, which some folks still insist on driving through! It's as if they relied on Google maps and didn't notice all the humans walking.
We found an excellent eatery here. Feeling lucky because there were so many inside the walled city.

On to Matera tomorrow; leaving the heel behind.
