We headed out for our first late (typical) dining experience last night with the owner of the apartment we booked, who happened to be a good friend of our friends in London!
Which enabled a night visit to St Peter's square. This was a great time to visit (11pm) with very few people other than the 24/7 media crew.
We also walked home last Castel Sant'Angelo at night....
and then promptly did them both again in daylight.
This is a very important angel, who guess by the name of Michael
St Peter's basilica looks rather small in selfie mode on a camera
So we went back in for a close up.
We missed the morning vote outcomes so have added them in for you.
We waited patiently for a while for the first afternoon vote...
But ultimately hunger trumped (no pun intended) religion and we headed off to a recommended panino outlet.
It would seem that the Cardinals want Rome to extract some more cash from the pilgrims before finalising their vote for the new Pope.
There are as many police around as media so it all feels very safe.
On to Sorrento tomorrow.
