Akureyri

Today was a little like a rest day, with only 60km of driving and one waterfall.

We spent the rest of the day in Akureyri, the largest town in the North of Iceland.

Shopping options were limited though because it was Iceland's national day!

Marie is convinced I knew this and it was part of some master plan to align our day in the next biggest location with a holiday.

So we visited some museums (aircraft and motorbikes) and a big show at the sports centre (cars). Marie loved it and couldn't believe it luck. 😂
Godafoss falls. Looking better without the image being reversed for selfies.
Quiet tourist centre
Impressive, small, air museum.
A new, and expanding, motorcycle museum built in memory of this local chap who was so close to making it happen before he died.
It's like most others around the world but it's nice to see folk making the effort to present their old machines to others.

Then, we moved on to cars.
Marie wants a Dodge RAM set up for Iceland conditions.
We think the beautiful but uninsulated VW is a bit cold for camping in Iceland.
The coolest car in show, in our opinion.
As it happens the tourist gimmicks shop was open, but the cat was not for sale 😊
