First Class or not the other train users in our group had warned us not to expect any luxury whatsoever. They also warned us to stop eating and drinking to reduce the chance of needing to use the toilets onboard 😂.
First Class provided the four of us a sleeper cabin and as it happens we slept pretty well.
Once off the train in Mumbai we made our way to the stark contrast of staying at the Taj Mahal hotel on the waterfront.
It is unquestionably the nicest building in the area and quite probably the nicest hotel we will stay in for the while trip.
We had thought that we would head off on a tour of the slums but on this occasion we became trapped in the luxury and glamour of everything the hotel offered, including a one hour tour of the property and explaining it's history.
The wooden portals are the ticket booths for India's first airline, which was established by Mr Tata who had built the hotel. Everything was handwritten.
