Belfast Day 2

Belfast has been a really good city to visit with the now common sight of structures that pre-date NZ (developed), a lot of explaining of the tensions in its recent history and plenty that reminds you there is so much more to this city than it's fighting. Today we visited the now closed Crumlin Rd jail, yet another pub and Stormont (parliament) which is a beautiful building in beautiful grounds. Sadly, there is no governing happening at Stormont because after Sinn Fein became the largest part due the first time the Unionists refused to elect a speaker and thus allow a new government to progress. The Unionists blame Brexit (why not throw COVID in as an excuse too!) But the public are tiring of it and it seems to be helping republican preferences. So interesting to watch how humans find unreasonable reasons to fight each other.
