Palais de Versailles

This time we set out to research the French royals, Louis 14 and 16 in particular.

It didn't end well and tomorrow we get to celebrate the anniversary.

The palace is a remarkable property to have built but frankly we enjoyed the gardens the most. (2nd blog for these photos)

We would also recommend that one visits in shoulder season or winter because shoulder to shoulder with hundreds of people doesn't make for good observation.

At 1.59m in height, nobody believes Louis XIV was as big as his horse.
The chapel
Neither did Louis XIV look like a muscular Roman! (His brother led army into battle)
The hall of mirrors, and ceiling art, and people!
Louis XIV instructs painter to make him look regal... High heels and all.
Marie Antoinette (still with her head).
