Today we rode 25k up a washed out dirt track to a village that I doubt many tourists reach. It once had a US presence even though they were 'never located in Laos'.
The track was hard work on trail bikes but nobody cares complain given that the locals ride the track on 50cc motor scooters!
We hired a guide from the village to help us avoid the many unexploded ordinance from the war era as we checked our some old war hardware in the bushes.
It is a highlight of Laos to see how people live so simply compared with our western life styles, and kids are all smiles with sticks, dirt and tourists to entertain them.
I was most impressed by a boy who approached me, a giant to him, to ask us he could practice his English with me. Awesome.
Kids wanting high fives as we rode through down, feeling like Elvis (after leaving the super market he hides in).
After our 50km diversion we rode the highway into town (name forgotten sorry). It must be popular as it is the first time we have seen western tourists since Luang Prabang.
