Coyhaique

We are here tonight. A hard one to pronounce.

More beauty

Maybe it'll get boring after three weeks? But I doubt that.

Puyuhuapi Accommodation

Actually, here's a shot of the house we stayed in.

Stop...

We do a lot of this, stop the group for photos in areas with nice outlooks. It was hard today though because you could stop around every corner.

Beautiful country

Each day I have thought gee that was special and then the next day tops it. NZ doesn't have a lock on awesome scenery. Today we have a clear blue day and the riding and scenery couldn't be any better.

Technology

Show this to your kids, or anyone who complains about how bad modern technology is. It's our toaster at Puyuhuapi.

We are here tonight

Puyuhuapi

Rush hour at the petrol station

It's a similar price to what we pay in NZ.

Lunch spot

Sorry about the tree in the way of the photo. We have a saw with us and contemplated chopping it down... But we have some young environmentalists with us.

Santa Lucia

We rode through this town today, the one devastated by an enormous mud slide recently (Google it for background... 23 died). It looks like they lost 30% of the town to the mud.

Part of Pablo's main course

Last nights Accommodation

This is now out of order, but I meant to say that last night's airbnb accommodation was excellent, not because it was fancy but because it was a nice homely feel of huts and a restaurant onsite out of the main town. Pablo lived and worked in NZ in 2004 and was so excited about our booking. He and a friend we also exceptional cook and will take some beating on this trip.

Finally a good coffee

A good coffee by Kiwi standards.

Our travel map for the first two days

We cross back over to Chile again today.

Lakeside, route 71, Southbound

Butch Cassidy's Hideaway

Yum II

Yum

Trevellin, Route 71 Argentina

We are at a homestay on route 71, Trevelin, it is run by the most remarkable young couple, who worked in Blenheim 14 years ago. Small world! Superb cooks, best meal in a long time. Bilingual which helps to have a lot of fun. It's great to be at some real peoples place out of town. They built it all themselves. They live having people to stay, and they're good at it. Fantastic.

Meat

We suspect this will be on the menu often, especially in Argentina.

In San Carlos de Bariloche (day 2)

In rained almost all day so the clouds left many hill and mountain tops hidden sadly. We still saw plenty of snow and it often had the feel of Tongariro National Park in appearance. We rode about 365km but took most of the day doing it. Apparently this is the town many Nazis ran to, to hide after WWII.

Argentina border

Welcome to Argentina. Yes, into a tin she'd to clear the border. Actually, two sheds, one to leave Chile and one to enter Argentina.

T-30 minutes

Rain on the first day wasn't part of the plan, but.... Hotel #2 awaits across the border.

Pucon

After three flights and a mini van we are in Pucon on the day we left. It is a tourist town on a lake with a ski mountain above. We are here all tomorrow then we ride it on Sunday.
